Job Description:

Purpose:

An ICT distribution organisation is seeking a Costing Specialist who will be responsible to ensure accurate and timely management of import costings, shipping documentation, and clearance processes that support the company’s supply chain efficiency. The role is responsible for coordinating with freight forwarders, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve queries, reconcile accounts, and maintain compliance with import policies. Through delivering precise costing records, managing shipment claims, and facilitating smooth customs clearance, the position contributes directly to operational effectiveness, financial accuracy, and customer satisfaction


Key Job Outputs:

  • Manage day-to-day costings, dealing with administration and interface with various departments
  • Liaise with international and local freight forwarders aligning day-to-day requirements and resolve queries and shipping status
  • Resolve SARS Customs Stops, Tariff Queries and NRCS Stops.
  • Investigate and resolve shipment shortages via claim procedure and supplier communication
  • Adhere to the import and clearance policies, procedures and schedules and all other guidelines as defined by the company
  • Reconcile monthly creditor accounts and resolving outstanding queries and credits due
  • Attend to clearance and product queries in relation to documents, shortages and purchase orders
  • Coordinate shipping and clearance, manage forwarder status reports and request for documents
  • Liaise with the brand executives to facilitate customs clearing and delivery
  • Manage day-to-day shipping, costing, forwarder queries and requests and provide feedback to brand executives in reasonable time frames
  • Ensure that day-to-day costings are done accurately which includes complete documentation sets and sign-offs
  • Accurately update the costing register with regard to costing status/numbers entries
  • Daily update of the forward cover spreadsheet
  • Assist receiving with checking and scanning of shipments

Qualifications:

  • Matric with mathematics is essential, a tertiary qualification and/or a relevant diploma will be an advantage


Experience:

  • Two (2) to three (3) years’ working experience in a FMCG environment is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of the clearing and forwarding industry is preferred
  • Knowledge of SARS Customs Procedures and Tariff Headings is preferred
  • Spreadsheet knowledge in drawing up and utilising reports (daily costing/tracking sheets)
  • Relevant technical knowledge and technology driven
