Operational Excellence Manager
Job Description:
Purpose:
A global specialty and branded pharmaceutical company is seeking an Operational Excellence Manager to optimise the allocation of resources across its assets to drive strong performance in Public Health and SADC markets. The role focuses on defining, monitoring, and reporting on Salesforce KPIs, leading tender review systems and reporting, and providing leadership and oversight to operational teams
Key Job Outputs:
Financial Objectives
Budgeting
- Preparing financial models and reports based on tender awards and the business’s historical performance and setting growth targets aligned with the overall Pharma targets
- Supporting the annual budgeting process for the South Africa Public Health and SADC regions
Forecasting
- Adjust the budget under FC1 and FC2 cycles to accommodate any changes in the business
- Ensure updates are reported to the relevant Finance department and translated into inventory planning
Bid Commercial Viability Testing
- Prepare bid portfolios and pricing structures
- Secure and align on volume-based cost of goods
- Align portfolio expansion with growth targets
- Project manage bid preparation across stakeholders
- Prepare tender submissions ensuring compliance and accuracy
Post Award Analysis
- Analyse wins and losses of bids to support portfolio strategy and business planning
People Management – Customer Liaison Officers and Operations Specialist
- Oversee team performance and monitor achievement of targets
- Develop team management systems
- Drive team performance to achieve set objectives
- Build performance continuity through talent attraction, development, and retention
- Develop standard operating procedures
Participating in Business Reviews
- Analyse performance of work streams
- Prepare reporting and discussion points based on analysis
Salesforce Effectiveness
- Optimise salesforce allocation through targeting, segmentation, and resource planning
- Manage national sales plans including KPIs, target setting, and performance tracking
Dashboards and KAM Support
- Create, manage, and drive sales and margin dashboards
- Collect and coordinate outbound sales data across regions
- Support KAMs with stock replenishment aligned to depot activities
- Coordinate development of dashboard reporting with IT/BIS
- Prepare sales and performance reports for stakeholders
- Run margin and portfolio performance reports
- Provide sales analytics and recommendations at product level
- Upload required reports onto relevant platforms and analyse outputs regularly
Demand and Supply Coordination

Qualifications:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Business, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or medical industry
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Salesforce effectiveness across South Africa and SADC
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in tender management
Additional Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
Salary: Market related
