Job Description:

Purpose:

A global packaging and labelling company is seeking a Dispatch Clerk who will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of safe, efficient, handling, dispatch and distribution of products from the company to customers whilst ensuring that the company performs to ISO Standards, OHS Act Safety Standards as well as maintaining sound industrial relations. The incumbent is also required to ensure that all budgetary constraints are adhered to, and inventory losses are less than 1%.

People leadership: providing functional leadership in relation to Slitting Operators, Material Handlers, Operations Clerks as well as Assistant Operators to upgrade talent in technical excellence and process

Key Job Outputs:

  • Ensure daily delivery targets are met
  • Ensure that the finished product is correctly labelled and wrapped
  • Ensure the correct procedure for deliveries is adhered to
  • The necessary quality checks have been done on selected consignments
  • Issuing the correct documentation
  • On-time deliveries
  • Ensure the PODs are correctly completed and distributed to the relevant personnel for processing
  • Sufficiently interacting with other functional departments
  • Ensure delivery schedules are correctly sequenced according to the open to dispatch report and TMS system
  • Daily inspections on delivery vehicles and forklifts – any deviations on condition of equipment to be reported and repairs to be scheduled
  • Ensure correct documentation is distributed by drivers
  • Manage and coordinate consumables for daily consumption
  • Ensure products are correctly ‘bin transfer’ in warehouse
  • FDC stock to be monitored daily and discrepancies reported to supervisor immediately
  • Ensure all security checks are conducted prior to loading of trucks

Product quality and customer satisfaction

  • Ensure all products are delivered in the correct quantity and on the right time
  • Ensure product is safely loaded
  • Ensure all finished pallets are sufficiently and correctly wrapped
  • Ensure product collections are completed as per returns procedure

Productivity improvement ideas

  • Continuously searching for opportunities to improve dispatch process and decrease lead times to customers

HSE targets and objectives

  • Strictly enforcing personnel discipline on safety issues
  • Adhere to all PPE requirements inside warehouse
  • Ensure ZERO tolerance for any deviations is being enforced in the warehouse
  • Ensure all deviations are followed up and cleared on the SHE Rep Inspection reports on a monthly basis

Maintaining effective Hygiene standards at CT distribution centre

  • Ensure that the delivery vehicles are continuously cleaned and presentable
  • Housekeeping
  • High-housekeeping practices to be entrenched and maintained
  • Ensure safe stacking procedures are maintained

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 matric certificate
  • Relevant certificate qualification in Operations/Inventory and warehousing/procurement

Experience:

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in the manufacturing environment
